Mental Health Action Day was a day of painting, mindfulness, and fun! Leading up to the event, My Good Brain has been creating and sharing resources and ideas for art therapy, motivational quotes for kids, and more. On 5/20, we hosted our very first Facebook Live event with our CEO and Founder, Dr. Danessa Mayo, who engaged in an intuitive painting activity. Dr. Mayo shared her painting process with acrylics and how she begins her practice.

Intuitive painting involves creating from one’s inner world. Dr. Mayo described that she enjoys intuitive painting because it helps her connect with her emotions, thoughts, and become more aware of herself and her experiences. During the painting activity, Dr. Mayo also shared about how the intuitive painting activity helps her practice mindfulness in daily life. She described the Seven Pillars of Mindfulness and how she incorporates them into her art-making process.
