About Teen Creative Arts
As we began 2022, the mental health toll of entering our third year into the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected our youth in an unprecedented scale. Such concerns for the mounting global youth mental health state has led US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy to recently issue a public health advisory on the “youth mental health crisis” exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic that has caused a 43% increase in loneliness among young people.
To address this growing youth mental health crisis, My Good Brain sought to do more for teens struggling with social isolation, mood difficulties, trauma, and distress.
What is Teen Creative Arts?
Teen Creative Arts is an art workshop and social group created for youth ages 13-18. Our goal with Teen Creative arts is to help teens form a community with like-minded creatives to draw inspiration from, encouragement, and socio-emotional support.
Each individual is expected to engage in their own form of art practice, ranging from all forms of art (painting, photography, creative writing, dance, videography, etc.). During each group meeting, teen group members have opportunities to learn from local SF Bay Area artists, collaborate with their peers, and share their artworks.
For Teaching Artists
Are you a teaching artist?
Every month, we invite an artist to host a workshop during one of the sessions to share their art, teach some tips and tricks, and share how it can be a practice for emotional wellness. Interested in hosting one of these workshops? You're in the right place!
