Community partnership with local SF Bay Area libraries

Art & Mental Wellness

Workshops at the Library

About the Library Workshops

Since Summer 2023, MGB has partnered with local San Francisco Bay Area libraries in Alameda County to deliver high-quality arts & mental wellness workshops for elementary aged youth. These free, 1-hour community events are led by our MGB Volunteers and take place on a monthly basis. Children learn about relevant mental health topics (such as mindfulness, gratitude, emotions, and more), and engage in related arts & crafts activities that reinforce deep learning of the material.

Meet the Co-Hosts

MGB is powered by our incredible group of volunteers in the Bay Area community. Learn more about our Library workshop co-hosts below.

  • Hey everyone! My name is Jenni Liao and I currently attend American High School in Fremont as a sophomore. When I’m not busy, I enjoy running, hiking, and baking for family whenever I can. Taking care of my three new guppy fishes has also been exciting as my first pets. In the past, I volunteered with various organizations, ranging from local libraries to gardening for the community. Volunteering for MGB has allowed me to further my interests as well as be passionate about expanding the importance of mental health. I hope to succeed in promoting healthy ways of mental wellness towards youth through this role.

  • Hi everyone! My name is Nidhi Bhogi and I am a senior at Irvington High School. I am an officer at our school’s competitive speech club, and throughout the past few years, I have used effective communication as a method to raise awareness about mental health issues that are currently affecting our youth today. Besides competing in speech tournaments, I love to play guitar and dance. Through these hobbies, I have really recognized the importance of taking care of one’s mental health and my interest to this subject drew me towards My Good Brain. I loved volunteering at the Fremont Street Eats Booth for MGB and it was wonderful to see how many people we were able to impact positively by spreading mental wellness through art. I am looking forward to many more of these events in the future and I am excited to contribute my skills and work with such an amazing team!

  • Hello everyone! My name is Jessica and I am so happy to be volunteering for MGB’s Teen Programs & Community Outreach & Events Team. I love running, scrapbooking and my cat, parsley! Ever since young, I have always been immersed in psychology, pondering wonders of the brain. I hope to use my voice and experiences to advocate for mental health and inspire children to navigate challenges of their own. I look forward to this journey and cannot wait to witness the impact we'll make as a team!

  • Hello! My name is Riya Shelar, and I'm currently a sophomore at American High School! My interests are volleyball, volunteering and robotics. I'm on FRC Skywalkers and Storms Volleyball!! Besides that, I enjoy watching Netflix and love reading. I love drawing and painting in my free time, but most of all I like getting boba with my friends. I'm passionate about helping people, and love the MGB programs I've taken part of. I use art as a de-stresser at times, and I’m excited to teach young kids about that! I’m excited to work with everyone and be part of this amazing team!

  • Hi everyone! I’m Haasini and I’m super excited to be a part of My Good Brain! I’m a rising junior at Mission San Jose High school, and I’ve loved doing art since I was in elementary school. Primarily, my artistic abilities involve dancing and crocheting, but I sketch from time to time as well. My hobbies mainly include Bollywood dance, reading, and watching sitcoms! I love everything to do with the outdoors, and I frequently go camping, hiking, and backpacking with my scout troop. I’m really looking forward to being a part of MGB and I can’t wait to work with you all!
