Spring Cleaning & Decluttering

Our surroundings are often a reflection of our personality. When teens spend most of their time in their rooms, they decorate it with personal items they find most appealing to their own interests and tastes. Sometimes, we can all get caught up in a frenzy of work and our surroundings can quickly accumulate with unwanted things and create a mess.

In a 2010 study published by the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, it was discovered that women who had full or cluttered houses were more likely to be overwhelmed with negative feelings or depression due to feelings of confusion and fatigue their surroundings left them with.

Physical clutter can correlate strongly with mental health issues and to address this issue, spring cleaning can be the perfect solution.

What is Spring cleaning?

It’s essentially a process you take to deep clean your house or your surroundings to start fresh and create a clean environment you can live in.

Here’s a simple Spring Cleaning Plan to get you started:

  1. Make a schedule of what you want to achieve throughout the day

  2. Decide which areas of your home need to be cleaned and decluttered

  3. Gather supplies like scrub brushes or a vacuum cleaner

  4. Declutter one area at a time focusing on things like cabinets or drawers

  5. Sort items into three categories: keep, donate, or trash

  6. Continue to clean until you feel like you are in a fresh, new setting!

🌟 Clean Room = Clean Mind!

The Springtime can be filled with flowers and fragrances, ushering a season of new beginnings. In order to prioritize your mental health this season, engage in spring cleaning to alleviate mental stress!
