  • clean glass jar, labels removed

  • figurines, small toys, or decorations for inside

  • glitter or fake snow

  • waterproof glue

  • water or distilled water

  • optional: add glycerin, baby oil, or clear liquid soap to the water to slow down the movement of glitter/snow

Instructions

  1. Glue the figurines to the inside lid of the jar. Allow it to dry completely.

  2. Add some glitter / fake snow to the bottom of the jar

  3. Fill the jar almost to the top with water, leaving a little space at the top

  4. Place the lid onto the jar, make sure it’s tight to prevent leaks.

Count Down to the New Year!

Supplies

  • large piece of cardboard or poster board

  • markers or pen and other writing utensils

  • construction paper or colored paper

  • scissors

  • glue, tape or stapler

  • optional: decorative materials (glitter, stickers, paint, etc)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the base by trimming the cardboard/poster board to your ideal size. Lay it flat on a table

  2. Create countdown numbers by writing large numbers on pieces of construction/colored paper, from 0 to any number that you would like, depending on how many days you want to count down. Decorate the numbers if you want

  3. Arrange the numbers in descending order (from the highest at the top to the lowest number at the bottom)

  4. Attach the numbers using glue, tape, or a stapler to your base in a way that allows you to remove or flip them every day

DIY No-Sew Stocking

Supplies

  • felt or fabric of your choice

  • fabric glue or a hot glue gun

  • scissors

  • decorations like cotton balls, ribbon, etc

  • writing utensils

Instructions

  1. Draw a stocking shape onto the felt/fabric. You can also use a template online. Follow your outline and cut out two stocking shapes, which will form the front and back of your stocking

  2. Add decorations to your stocking. For example, add a ribbon or cotton ball trim to the edges, or use stickers, buttons, or other decorations to embellish your stocking

  3. Use fabric glue or a hot glue gun to apply glue along the edges of the stocking, leaving the top open. Press the edges together firmly and allow the glue to dry completely

  4. Optional: Attach a hanging loop using extra ribbon or fabric to hang your stocking! Fold a thin strip into a loop and attach it to the inside top corner of the stocking with glue.

Salt Dough Ornaments

Supplies (for about 7 ornaments)

  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup of salt

  • ~3/8 cups of warm water

  • paint, ribbon, and other decorations

Instructions

  1. Mix together flour and salt in a large bowl. Slowly add warm water while stirring. Knead the dough until soft for about 5 min

  2. Preheat the oven to 300°F

  3. Place half the dough between 2 large sheets of parchment paper, and roll it out to about 1/8” thick. Remove the top parchment paper

  4. Use cookie cutters and cut shapes, transferring them to a baking sheet

  5. Poke a hole at the top of every ornament for a ribbon later. You may also poke additional small holes (using a fork, for example) for decoration

  6. Bake for about 1 hour or until hard

  7. Once cooled, decorate your ornaments using paint or other decorations. Thread on a ribbon and hang it up!

Supplies

  • 2 pieces of fleece fabric of any pattern you like, each large enough for a blanket of your desired size

  • scissors

Instructions

  1. Lay the 2 pieces of fabric over each other so that they are aligned. Trim off any uneven edges

  2. Cut out a square from each corner of the fabric about 4-6 inches in size

  3. Along each edge, cut strips into every side of the fleece about 1-1.5 inches wide and about 4-6 inches long, cutting through both layers of the fleece at the same time

  4. Once the strips are cut, tie together strips from the top fabric to the bottom fabric, making a tight double knot

  5. Check, tighten, and trim any excess fabric!
