We’re recipients of The Health Trust Community Grant!

We’re ending this year on an amazing note!

My Good Brain is excited to announce that we’ve been awarded a $1,500 grant by The Health Trust to further support the My Good Brain Tool Kit program and expand our reach to Santa Clary County!

During the Fall semester, we delivered our tool kits to 9 schools and local organizations around the Bay Area. This upcoming Winter and Spring semester, we’re proud to share that we’ve identified three new schools to share our art therapy tool kits with:

  • Anne Darling Elementary (San Jose Unified)

  • Washington Elementary (San Jose Unified)

  • Horace Mann Elementary (San Jose Unified)

We’d like to extend our sincere gratitude to The Health Trust for this grant and recognition!

Receiving this grant enables us to deepen our impact and shine a brighter light on youth mental health awareness and action in local schools. It also reflects the shared commitment My Good Brain has with The Health Trust to create meaningful change and empower those affected by health inequities.

What is The Health Trust Community Grant?

The Health Trust Community Grant is an initiative that aims to build healthy equity in the Santa Clara and Northern San Benito counties. The grant uplifts initiatives that address health disparities that affect marginalized populations by supporting projects that distribute relevant resources and support to those who need them — these include programs like local community events, art fairs, fundraisers, and more!

With the support of The Health Trust, My Good Brain can directly contribute to building health equity by catalyzing conversations about youth mental health in underresourced communities. The Health Trust Community Grant will play a pivotal role in helping My Good Brain’s Tool Kit Program equips parents and educators with resources to nurture children’s emotional growth. This commitment will also ensure that mental wellness tools will be made accessible to schools in Santa Clara County that might otherwise lack such support.

How will we use this grant?

With the grant, My Good Brain will be able to reach 100 students in Santa Clara County public elementary school who have limited access to mental wellness resources. We’re looking forward to providing the schools listed earlier with engaging materials that promote Social Emotional Learning and cultivate compelling and easy-to-understand discussions around mental health and wellness, emotional regulation, and thoughtful relationship-building.

The tool kits serve as both educational resources and hands-on support for educators to address complex topics such as identity, empathy, and purpose in an age-appropriate way. It also empowers classrooms with a diverse set of art-based activities and lessons that can be revisited and reproduced for continuous education and growth.

Here’s a peek at some of our past Tool Kits, which have themes like  ‘Community Roots’ and ‘Centered and Present,’ each with their own distinct art activities and lesson plans!

At My Good Brain, our ultimate goal is to use our tool kit to help students in the classroom become beacons of change that create a ripple effect within the community. By giving students an accessible and fun way to engage in impactful discussions about their mental health, we belive that children will play a significant role in promoting acceptance, empathy, and compassion beyond the classroom.

With a proven track record of success—having distributed over 1,000 Tool Kits to 18 schools across the SF Bay Area, backed by ongoing support from the Starbucks Foundation, the Town of Colma, local small businesses, and individual donors —we know just how powerful this approach is and to educators, parents, and our youth.

In 2023, we donated 704 toolkits — almost doubling the number of toolkits delivered in 2022! (To learn more about what we’ve done in the past year, check out our 2023 impact report.)

This grant will allow us to continue this growth trajectory by donating more toolkits to more schools around the Bay Area.
