Gratitude

Early childhood experiences shape the architecture of the developing brain, thus laying the foundation of sound mental health. Through MY GOOD BRAIN, our vision is to show children a healthy, fun, and engaging way to take care of their mental health using art and play. Moreover, we want to increase the accessibility of mental health resources and reach underprivileged youth and BIPOC communities.

I founded My Good Brain to share my love of art with children and show them how to use art and play to take care of their mental health. I wanted to support children and their families during the pandemic by providing free, accessible, fun, and engaging art activities that can help them cope in an adaptive manner.

- Dr. Danessa Mayo, Founder & CEO of My Good Brain

Since our inception in February 2021,

  • We have developed resources including sharable infographics, research-based blog articles and YouTube videos highlighting good modeling behaviors to provide education, awareness and support for parents and children towards mental health.

  • We have developed and donated over 70 arts based MY GOOD BRAIN tool kits to local elementary schools in Oakland, Hayward and Union City area. These toolkits are designed to teach healthy coping habits in a fun, engaging and accessible way!

  • We have built an engaging and growing community through our social media platforms( instagram, facebook) to share resources for mental health awareness and provide daily dose of motivation.

  • We have created “Sunday Art Club”, a free online arts and crafts event for children of all ages. Each event is built so that through fun filled art activity, an important mental wellness skill is learned such as gratitude practice.

We at MY GOOD BRAIN are proud of the extremely grateful for our supporters, our followers and people who have shown belief in our vision through their generous donations and participation. Your contribution is making a difference every day in the lives of children who need help to overcome their mental health burden.

My Good Brain is a growing non-profit and your support means a lot to us. Come and help us to reach more children in need of these resources and spread awareness about importance of mental well-being.

This Giving Tuesday, remember to support your local community in any way you can! From volunteer work, donations, to sharing the word to others about helpful resources, each person CAN make a difference.
